SCPC - Who We Are
We are a construction management firm with offices in San Diego and Orange County, serving clients throughout Southern California. We specialize in assisting our clients in maximizing the value of their property investments by helping to decrease operating costs and maximize return on investment. Our clients include Homeowner Associations, Condominium and Apartment Complexes, Religious Organizations, and Non-Profit Organizations.
Since 2002 we have specialized in representing property owners who are engaged in the design and renovation of projects ranging from a few thousand up to millions of dollars in value. Our multi-disciplinary team has a great deal of experience in all facets of project management and facilities consulting; including maintaining existing properties, overseeing renovations, and managing new construction. We specialize in assisting our clients in maximizing the value of their property investments. Our staff belongs to many professional organizations which include The Building Industry Association of San Diego County (BIA) and The Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). The following are the primary team members for SCPC:
Matthew Boomhower – President / Architect
Matthew is the founder and president of Southern Cross Property Consultants. He is a licensed Architect in the State of California with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Tennessee. Matthew is also licensed as an attorney in California and holds a Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego. He is a Certified Construction Contract Administrator and a member of The American Institute of Architects. Matthew is the author of numerous articles and has presented a number of continuing education and professional development programs to various groups, both locally and nationally. He is an adjunct architecture professor at Woodbury University, San Diego campus, where he teaches courses on Professional Practice, Written Construction Documents, Building Codes, and Construction Methods & Materials.
Bill Moss– Vice President
Bill is the Vice President and CFO of Southern Cross Property Consultants. Bill’s job description lists only two responsibilities: 1) Do anything Matthew doesn’t want to do and 2) Perform other duties as assigned. Bill earned his MBA at National University and combines that with over 35 years of experience in for-profit and not-for-profit companies such as McKesson, Medtronic, Scripps Health and Grainger. Most recently Bill served over 15 years as Business Administrator for two local churches in San Diego County. Bill brings with him a love for dogs (he and his wife have two rescues), a love and respect for the military (yes, he served) and a desire to enhance the great team at SCPC.
Mario Alesi – Senior Project Manager
Mario is a licensed general contractor and former business owner. He brings over 40 years of construction and management knowledge to Southern Cross Property Consultants. His project experience includes high rise apartments and condos, commercial buildings, one-of-a-kind custom homes, churches, tenant improvements, and renovations ranging in size from $500,000 – $9,000,000. As Senior Project Manager, Mario’s strengths include expediting multiple contractors, being highly detail oriented, and keeping projects on schedule and under budget. His focus is always on quality, safety, personalized customer service, and above all complete customer satisfaction.
Robert Porter – Senior Project Manager
Robert brings over 30 years of experience in construction project management, including commercial projects such as Target & Best Buy as well as residential projects, ranging in size from $500,000 to $27 million. Robert has successfully managed over 100 projects from bids through completion, leading teams to achieve a 100% accident-free record. He specializes in capitalizing on cost-saving opportunities and consistently delivering completed projects at an average of 9.5% under budget.
Tara Clemen – Project Manager
Tara Clemen is an Assistant Project Manager for Southern Cross Property Consultants. Formerly the Assistant Facilities Manager of The Bishop’s School, Tara served as co-chair on the WASC Facilities Plant Committee, achieving accreditation eight years running. She has a broad range of experience managing multiple renovation projects from bid to completion as well as managing all operational needs of numerous facilities. She exceeds client satisfaction on a regular basis with her strong sense of professionalism and focus no matter the size or complexity of the project. Tara prides herself on staying cool under pressure, not stopping until the job is done.
David Park – Project Manager
David brings over 20 years of construction and management knowledge to Southern Cross Property Consultants. His project experience includes commercial buildings, one-of-a-kind custom homes, tenant improvements, and renovations. David is a licensed general contractor and former business owner. As a Project Manager, Dave’s strengths include expediting multiple contractors, being highly detail oriented, and keeping projects on schedule and under budget.
Ian Heacox – Assistant Pre-Construction Manager
Ian is an Assistant Project Manager. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Woodbury University and is currently working toward licensure as an architect in the State of California. Ian specializes in permit expediting, reviewing design documents and construction review comments. Ian has extensive experience working with design programs to create vignettes and as-built drawings for clients.
Michelle Wills – Assistant Pre-Construction Manager
Michelle Wills is an Assistant Pre-Construction Manager. She earned her Master of Architecture degree from Woodbury University and is currently working toward licensure as an architect in the State of California. Michelle specializes in architectural drawings, modeling, and submittals. Michelle assists Project Management staff with design, document control, and other architectural and administrative tasks.
Becky Millat - Client relationship Manager
Becky is the primary contact point for all current and new clients at Southern Cross Property Consultants. Before coming to SCPC, she was in the paint industry working with property managers as a color specialist. With over 15 years in the HOA, Apartment and Commercial spheres, she brings a lot of relationships to SCPC. She looks forward to meeting each and every client to make the construction on their property run smoothly. When she is not working, she and her husband run a camp for kids in the San Diego foster care system.
Laura Todd – Marketing Director
Laura is the Marketing Director for Southern Cross Property Consultants. She began her career in the non-profit sector before joining the marketing team at Anheuser-Busch. She later led the marketing efforts of several other companies, including GreenIT and FranVest, before joining SCPC. Laura is responsible for all marketing activities for SCPC. Laura also coordinates educational programs offered by the company.
Otto H. Boomhower – Director of Customer Outreach
Otto is the Director of Customer Outreach for Southern Cross Property Consultants. He is originally from San Bernardino, CA. He moved to San Diego after San Bernardino Animal Control detained him for running the streets alone and without identification. After making a personal commitment to get his life back on track, he was adopted by Matthew & Stephanie Boomhower. Otto has been with SCPC since 2014. He has yet to meet anyone, person or dog, who cannot benefit from an enthusiastic greeting and kisses. Otto is a fan of rescue canines and other working dogs. Follow him on Twitter @Otto_H_Boom.
